Modified Boron Doped Diamond electrode (BDD) was applied to electroanalytical determination of Methylparaben (MePa) in natural surface water and cosmetic samples using Square Wave Voltammetry (SWV). The parameters of SWV were optimized with respect to MePa. Adequate linearity (0.9923), in the range of 3.30 x 10 -6 to 1.97 x 10 -4 mol L -1 , with detection and quantification limit of 3.05 x 10 -6 and 10.05 x 10 -6 mol L -1 , respectively, was found. Spiked samples of cosmetics and natural surface water, with low pollution content, both added to the buffer solution, showed recovery range between 92% and 95%, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 9.6% (n = 3), and between 78.4% and 109.0%, with RSD of 11.2% (n = 3) to natural surface water and cosmetic samples, respectively. The developed method proved to be simple, sensitive and selective to MePa.
