In this paper, a high efficient and accurate impact tester for measuring the dynamic strength of diamond grit is presented. The tester uses drop-hammer impact energy to automatically break the diamond grit, and to detect the broken energy and return signals. Compared with the original tester, the newly developed tester improves the instrument’s hammer drive circuit, the sampling circuit, and the microprocessor. It also makes some improvements on the crushing energy and peak power calculation method and programming. The signal produced by the pressure sensor, piezoelectric sensor, is converted into a voltage signal by the high-performance single-chip microcomputer and digitalized via the high precision A/D converter. c. The test system can be set up rely on the drop height, data communications, data storage, large-screen liquid crystal display, data statistics and profile display dynamic strength parameters. The test data of the system are stable and reliable indicating good repeatability.
