Abstract
Section titled āAbstractāDiamond coating on cemented tungsten carbideļ¼WC-Coļ¼is quite difficult. Generally, to reduce the reactivity of cobaltļ¼Coļ¼, which is the binder of WC-Co, an acid pretreatment is applied. Recent reports have described that the adhesion of nanostructured diamond coating was improved using diboraneļ¼B2H6ļ¼to reduce the reactivity of Co as a catalyst. To obtain boron-doped diamondļ¼BDDļ¼, B2H6 and trimethyl boronļ¼Bļ¼CH3ļ¼3ļ¼are often used as boron sources. However, special apparatus must be prepared because of the toxicity, flammability, and explosiveness of these sources.
