The physical and electrochemical behaviors of BDD electrode are clarified in this work. The surface morphology of BDD is investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) before and after electrolysis in different conditions. There is not any corrosion found on the surface based on the studies of SEM and electrochemical corrosion process. The contact angle of BDD surface with pure water is changed from hydrophobic to hydrophilic (characterized by 97Âș and 28Âș) after several runs. In order to thoroughly investigate chemical composition of BDD, Raman spectroscopy is used. The featured peak of diamond is found at 1332 cm-1 Raman shift. The comparison between H-terminated and O-terminated peaks (O 1s and C 1s) as a result of electrochemical processes is made using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The cyclic voltammogram (CV) of BDD is studied in acid and alkaline media in the range of hydrogen and oxygen evolution.
