Abstract
Section titled āAbstractāThis paper describes the recent trends in ultra-precision and micro cutting technology and authorās study cases. The ultra-precision and micro cutting technology is one of the most essential manufacturing processes in various fields such as IT, optical instrument and medical care. As one study case, the influence of the cutting atmosphere on the surface roughness and tool wear in CO_2-blow cutting of carbon steel with a diamond tool is demonstrated. As another case, the cutting properties of LiNbO_3 wafer in the direct cutting of micro grooves for the fabrication of SAW device in μ-TAS is demonstrated.
