The factors limiting the durability of high-current field sources of electrons based on nanocomposite diamond-graphite film structures under nonstationary temperature-vacuum operating conditions are established and interpreted. It is found that high-current emission is accompanied by the sputtering of residual gas ions from the vacuum system of atoms of the autocathode material and its redeposition onto the anode. It is shown that the deposited material on the anode by changing the voltage polarity in the interelectrode gap can be redeposited onto the cathode electrode with the restoration of its original emissivity.
