High-precision optical components in the aerospace and semiconductor industry are made of optical glass. During the grinding process, monitoring and predicting the status of diamond wheels are essential. Using a five-axis computerized numerical control machine with built-in sensors, the wear status of the grinding process is monitored to establish a wheel life cycle database. Diamond wheel and optical glass processing parameters are used to collect more than 120 grinding process data (approximately 1500 GB). Through the analysis of the measurement data revealed grinding wheel wear, the dimensional error of the processed optical glass is corrected. The database can be used as training material in artificial intelligence education.
