A model of novel periodical structural scatterer is proposed in this paper. After the operation of wire connection, the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of the diamond patch array has been decreased dramatically from the simulation and experimental results. When the impedance controllable network composed of varactor diodes is loaded between the unit cells, the RCS of scatterer could be tuned by different biasing voltage at L-band frequencies. The experimental results demonstrate the validity of this technology that the RCS of the active scatterer can be reduced more than 10 dB in a wide angle range.
