Abstract
Section titled “Abstract”A BSTRACT Background: Root repair material ideal characteristics are its ability to adapt to the walls of root canal and avoid leakage of microorganisms and their by-products into the peri-radicular tissue. They should be biocompatible, able to produce osteogenesis and cementogenesis, bacteriostatic, radiopaque, and remain unaffected by blood and moisture. Tissue inflammation and metabolic acidosis following bacterial colonization in pathological condition such as necrotic pulp or periapical abscess lead to change in neutral pH. The pH near periapical tissue lowers to around 5.5. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of acidic media such as butyric acid on bond strength on mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), Biodentine (BD), and EndoSequence root repair materials (ERRM) with root dentin wall. Methodology: The research was conducted in Vasantdada Patil Dental College. About 60 extracted teeth without any curve canal were selected. They were further divided into three groups of 20 each. Using diamond saw disc, mid root dentin were sectioned horizontally to thickness of 2.0-2.1 mm, further root repair materials were mixed according to instruction given by manufacturer. Result: The result concluded that push-out bond strength in both phosphate-buffered saline and acidic environment was higher with ERRM. Conclusion: Thickening agent and fillers added in ERRM result in higher push bond strength than MTA and BD.
