Abstract Hemispherical shell resonator gyroscopes (HRGs) are high-precision, highly responsible, and miniaturized angular velocity accelerometers. Currently, most HRGs are made of fused silica. As research into fused silica HRGs continues both domestically and internationally, and as the demand for miniaturization and cost reduction in inertial navigation components increases, HRGs need to adapt to a wider range of applications. This study explores the potential of diamond resonators as a replacement for traditional fused silica in hemispherical resonator gyroscopes to enhance precision and reduce costs. The development of diamond resonators may achieve the goals of improving precision, expanding dynamic range, miniaturization, and reducing costs. In the future, diamond resonators may replace traditional gyroscopes in fields such as aerospace engineering and maritime navigation and to achieve miniaturization, high precision, low-cost standards.
