Abstract
Section titled āAbstractāWide band gap and ultra wide band gap photoconductive semiconductors are of increasing interest for a number of applications including high power switching, high speed electronics, electromagnetic isolation, power electronics, and optical beam control. We will present work characterizing a number of semi-insulating semiconductors including GaN, SiC, Diamond, AlN, Ga 2 O 3 , their relative performance metrics, and examples of realized and proposed devices and applications. We will further discuss selection criteria based on first principles analysis for promising new photoconductors.
